Payment recovery tools don't need to touch your money
Some Stripe integrations ask for permissions far broader than the job requires — write access to charges, the ability to issue refunds, sometimes even payout controls. That's a lot of trust to hand a third party whose only job is retrying a failed charge and sending an email.
Regainly's Stripe integration is scoped to read payment and subscription data only. It can see that a charge failed and why, but it can't move money, issue a refund, or touch a payout — every retry and every recovered dollar happens inside your own Stripe account, under your own Stripe credentials. That's a narrower footprint than most billing or recovery tools ask for, and it's deliberate: the integration doesn't need write access to do its job.
